O Jerusalem, I have posted watchmen on your walls; they will pray day and night, continually. Take no rest, all you who pray to the LORD
Isaiah 62:6
Why Night and Day Prayer?
Our prayers hold power, power to transform individual lives, communities, nations, to shape history. Jesus tells us in John 14:14 “You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”
Around 1000 BC, King David established a tabernacle in Jerusalem and began night and day worship before the Lord that continued at various times throughout Israel and Judah’s history. We read about breakthrough after breakthrough each time this spiritual practice is introduced. In 1700 AD Count Zinzendorf brought together Moravians living on his estate, as they came together repented and prayed the Holy Spirit broke in and a prayer meeting started that lasted 100 years. The people were set alight with passion for Jesus and went out to seek mission and justice, becoming a worldwide mission movement, hardly surpassed in church history.
Night and day prayer isn’t something new, in fact it’s a powerful ancient practice that fuels mission and justice. In Isaiah 62 we are told “take no rest, all you who pray to the Lord”.
“God is mobilising an army, but it is a broken army that marches on its knees.”

Why 24-7 Prayer?
In September 1999, a simple student-led prayer vigil went viral and groups all over the world joined in to pray. In that original Prayer Room, in Chichester, the following poem was written; THE VISION. It captures the heart of 24-7 Prayer, and began a movement of people, making a pilgrimage to a prayer room, passing the baton from one another. Praying unceasingly, night and day, encountering Jesus, experiencing peace beyond understanding, daring to pray the impossible to the God of the impossible. Leaving transformed, to bring Jesus to each person they meet.
The premise is simple, collect a group of friends. Find a space, pick a week, get creative in the space, and each commit to pray for an hour, covering 24 hours in a chain of prayer. It’s so simple and yet it changes lives. We offer resources to help you on your way including an online sign up calendar, prayer room ideas to help you get creative, and support from our national team.
Today thousands are waking up to the passion to seek Jesus, in prayer.

“[A prayer room is] a place where we can experience peace so that we can make peace later. A place where we can accept forgiveness so that we can live our lives as priests at work. A place where we receive our Father’s acceptance so that we can love even those who laugh at us later in the day.”
