1. Encountering Jesus & Hope for the Next Generation
“Where the enemy thinks he has secured a grip, ‘BUT GOD’ steps in to rescue, redeem, and ignite a fresh fire in the next generation.” (Prophetic Word)
“This is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” — John 17:3
Pray for:
• Newport to encounter the living Christ personally and collectively, especially children and young people.
• Young people to reject empty counterfeits and find identity, purpose, hope and belonging in Christ alone.
• Local churches to become vibrant hubs of Kingdom joy, wisdom and genuine connection, carrying Jesus’ hope across the city.
Further references: John 17:1–26; Isaiah 61:1–4.
2. Freedom from Isolation, Fear and Loneliness
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him…” — Romans 15:13
Pray for:
• Those withdrawn through loneliness, fear and post-pandemic anxiety, and healing from isolation’s mental, emotional and spiritual toll.
• Freedom from isolation, fear and loneliness, remembering we are created for community.
• Neighbourhoods to be knitted together in mutual care, friendship and fellowship.
3. Peace, Freedom and Restoration in Newport’s Communities
“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me… to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives…” — Isaiah 61:1
Pray for:
• Communities affected by anti-social behaviour, crime, gang culture and drug-related harm, especially where these feel normalised.
• Divine intervention and breakthrough where destructive strongholds are taking root.
• Jesus to bring freedom, healing and restoration, returning safety, peace and righteousness to Newport’s streets.
4. Unity, Honour and Reconciliation
“That they all may be one…” — John 17:21
Pray for:
• Newport’s churches and fellowships to draw together in deeper unity and shared purpose at the feet of Jesus.
• A culture of honour, recognising every person’s God-given dignity and worth.
• Reconciliation where there is division, stronger intergenerational and community relationships, and grace to love, listen and serve across differences.
Further references: Genesis 1:27; Mark 12:31; John 13:34–35; 1 Peter 2:17.
5. Leadership & the Flourishing of the City
“Seek the peace of the city… and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.” — Jeremiah 29:7
Pray for:
• Wisdom, integrity and courage for those carrying responsibility in civic life, education, business, healthcare, emergency services, charities, churches and community organisations.
• Newport to flourish spiritually, socially and economically, seeking together the city’s peace, wellbeing and prosperity.
Further references: 1 Timothy 2:1–2; Proverbs 11:11.
As we pray for Newport: As we lift Newport before God, let us also lift our eyes and our hearts to the nation, praying earnestly for all of Wales — that God would bring healing, unity, renewal, hope and salvation across our cities, towns, valleys and communities.
